What is it about TaylorMade clubs that make them so spectacular? Why are Taylor Made clubs the preferred driver, iron, hybrid, and fairway woods used by many professionals at PGA tournaments? The answer the folks at InTheHoleGolf.com would give you is: It is a combination of all the technological advances found in all the various lines of TaylorMade clubs.
The newest models of TaylorMade clubs offer more potential in speed, distance, accuracy, and forgiveness.
The founder of Taylor Made, Gary Adams, revolutionized the golf club industry more than twenty-five years ago with the introduction of metal-headed woods. Since that time, the company’s engineers and designers have continued with improvements to its game-improvement metal-wood technology, introducing new TaylorMade clubs year after year.
By understanding the “metalwood” technology of TaylorMade clubs you will better appreciate how innovative their designs actually are. InTheHoleGolf.com presents some of the most important TaylorMade technology terms you will find on our Taylor Made clubs product pages.
TaylorMade’s Flight Control Technology (FCT) (for drivers and fairway woods)
Taylor Made golf clubs that features FTC have a metal sleeve positioned over the tip of the shaft. The sleeve can be rotated into different positions. Changing the characteristics of the head by loosening the bolt that secures the sleeve and shaft into the club head allows a golfer to easily adjust the club’s loft, lie, and face angle.
TaylorMade’s Inverted Crown Technology (ICT) (for drivers and fairway woods)
ICT optimizes the way Taylor Made clubs behave at impact to create an expanded COR zone. COR is an acronym for "coefficient of restitution." Coefficient of restitution is a measurement of the energy loss or retention when two objects collide. In slow motion you would see that the face of the driver depresses as the ball is struck and then rebounds providing a little extra “oomph” to the golf shot. A club that exhibits this property will have a very high COR.
TaylorMade’s Dual Crown Technology (for drivers)
With TaylorMade’s Dual Crown technology a noticeably smaller crown sits on top of a large power-base, allowing the CG (center of gravity) to be placed far back and deep promoting higher launch and lower spin for more distance.
TaylorMade’s Moveable Weight Technology (MWT) (for drivers)
TaylorMade clubs that features MWT offers an optional club head weight that can easily be distributed by the golfer to change its characteristics. A player may move differently weighted cartridges into strategically positioned ports. A player can optimize the location of the center of gravity on his/her TaylorMade clubs. A golfer can position more weight in the head and less in the toe affecting the speed of the TaylorMade clubs head rotation during the forward swing to promote a draw and/or reduce a slice.
TaylorMade’s SuperFast Technology (for drivers and fairway woods)
The SuperFast technology package found in Taylor Made clubs promotes more swing speed, ball speed, and distance.
If you are considering purchasing a Taylor Made golf club putter or wedge here are a couple of the impressive technological advances found in these specialty TaylorMade clubs.
TaylorMade’s Anti-Skid Groove System Insert
Developed for Taylor Made golf club putters this technology offers superior distance-control and accuracy, promoting forward spin for a smooth roll. The Anti-Skid Groove System insert promotes forward spin and reduces skid and bounce on your golf ball. The weight saved from the Titallium insert is redistributed on the perimeter of the putter head increasing its Moment of Inertia (MOI). Consequently Taylor Made putters are more forgiving on miss hits. A higher MOI measurement will make the putter’s head more stable and more resistant to twisting. Your short game will improve with this innovative technology.
TaylorMade’s Z Groove
Found in the newest TaylorMade golf club wedges, the fresh grooves and a rough surface promote maximum backspin and control. Taylor Made’s Z Groove technology creates a 10 percent increase in groove volume that helps maintain maximum spin and control out of any lie on the course. In addition, the increased spin helps stop your golf ball more quickly.
TaylorMade’s xFT (Exchangeable Face Technology)
TaylorMade’s Exchangeable Face Technology found on their new TP wedges allows players to conveniently remove a worn clubface and replace it with a new one, thus maintaining peak performance in terms of control and spin.
